Black Diamond man again charged with killing 86-year-old mom following release from mental hospital

KING COUNTY -- A Black Diamond man recently in a state mental hospital again faces murder charges for the alleged slaying of his mother in 2010.

Cecil Walker, 54, faces charges of first degree murder for the the death of Ella Walker, the King County Prosecutor's Office said.

He was previously charged for the killing in January 2012, but the charge was dismissed as it was determined he was not fit to stand trial.

Walker was placed in the Western State Hospital, a psychiatric facility, after the trial was dismissed.  But when plans to move him to a less restrictive alternative placement hospital came forward, the King County Prosecutor's Office decided to again file murder charges.

Walker is currently in King County Jail.

On Aug. 17, 2010, Black Diamond police were called to the report of a dead body in the 25000 block of Morgan Street.  Walker was allegedly found outside his mother's home at the location, wearing a shirt with blood stains. Officers said there was also blood on his face.

Inside the home, police found Ella Walker, 86, dead from multiple stab wounds.  When questioned, Walker allegedly told police "it had to happen."

Walker then confessed to calling police on his own, and alerting them to his mother's body, police documents show.

The King County Prosecutor's Office believes Walker is still "a danger to his family and the community" and requested bail be set at $1 million.
