Agra Senior Superintendent of Police Rajesh D Modak, told IndiaToday.in that the bandit had hoped to get Rs. 3 crore as ransom for the kidnapping of the industrialist. However the Special task Force was already on his heels after getting concrete information about his whereabouts in Ahmadabad from where he was arrested.

Ten years back, Dhara was a member of Ram Naresh Thakur gang but his name had never entered criminal records. A resident of Dundipura village in Iradatnagar of Agra district, Dhara had made an entry into the criminal world after kidnapping a businessman from Fatehpur Sikri in Agra. He had chopped off the fingers of this businessman and sent them to his family members as a proof of his kidnapping.

In 2010, Dhara murdered Vijendra Pradhan in Saiyyan town of Agra and had been absconding since then. His two brothers have migrated from Uttar Pradesh and are currently living in Gujarat while his two sisters are married.

There are 8 criminal cases pending against him in Agra and several other cases have been filed against him in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh as well. He had survived several encounters with the police including one in 2011, when his right hand Rajesh Badri was killed by the Haryana police. Dhara had also been shot in the waist, but managed to escaped.

The Agra police has declared a prize of Rs. 35,000 to be given to the STF team leader Additional Superintendent of Police Shailendra Kumar Srivastava and his entire team who had captured the bandit in Ahmadabad.
