Valley National Bank Announces the Grand Reopening of the Sea Bright Branch
Nearly two years after Hurricane Sandy, the office reopens its doors for business
WAYNE, N.J. - Thursday, September 11, 2014 - Valley National Bank, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Valley National Bancorp (NYSE:VLY), announced today the grand reopening of the Bank's Sea Bright branch located at 1173 Ocean Avenue in Sea Bright, New Jersey.
Water and wind damage forced Valley to shutter the branch in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. The branch received at least two feet of water and surging winds severely damaged the exterior structure as well. Despite the extensive damage, Valley made a commitment to the town of Sea Bright that it would work on a remodeling plan that would take nearly two years to finish. Meanwhile, as part of the Bank’s community initiatives, Valley employees assisted Sea Bright Mayor Dina Long’s rebuilding efforts by contributing their time to revitalization projects throughout the town.
Almost two years after suffering catastrophic damage from one of the most deadly and destructive storms ever to hit New Jersey, Valley’s Sea Bright branch proved that it was “Stronger than the Storm” by reopening for business on September 8th. Valley remains the only bank serving this small, close-knit shore community.
“The community is very excited about our grand reopening,” remarked District Sales Manager William Balmer. “We’ve had a lot of positive feedback from our friends and neighbors throughout the town and we couldn’t be happier to be back serving our customers in Sea Bright.”
The branch has gone through extensive renovations to become a modern facility, utilizing some of the latest banking automation technology. The branch features a new cash recycler which eliminates the need for tellers to count cash, improves security and accuracy, and reduces customer wait time. It also offers a 24/7 walk-up ATM and a VCoinWorks coin-counting machine.
