PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Emerging gold miner Kingsrose Mining has received permission to start mining at its Talang Santo project, in Indonesia.

The junior said on Tuesday that its 85%-held subsidiary had received a letter from the director-general of Minerals and Coal, advising that mining was authorized for the project, with the government accepting an updated project feasibility study.

The Talang Santo operation is the second underground mine at the Way Linggo gold project, is some 17 km from project infrastructure, and has a resource of some 287 489 oz of gold and 894 951 oz of silver.

Development work completed to date has exposed the orebody on Level 2 and Level 3, and gold grades sampled to date have exceeded the grade estimated in the mineral resource.

Kingsrose on Tuesday reported that its subsidiary had also received an in-principle forestry permit covering the Talang Santo project and the haul road. In anticipation that the issuance of the final ‘borrow and use’ permit may take time, the company has requested and received written approval to cover the current development activities under way.

The subsidiary was also working to complete several other parallel processes.

Kingsrose has been working since September to resume full operations at the Talang Santo operation, following a fatality at the site last year. At the start of April this year, an updated mine development plan for Way Linggo was presented to the government, and other regional, regent and provincial representatives.

The plan was accepted with some minor amendments.
