Before and After: Deck Makeover Featuring Trex Transcend

TREX COMPANY INC
BEFORE: This faded wood deck begs to be brightened, and clear signs of splintering means it's time to redo the deck.
AFTER: This deck receives a much-needed update, featuring Trex Transcend decking in Fire Pit and Gravel Path. With the clever use of Transcend decking to create a cocktail bar and plenty of built-in lighting, entertaining has never been easier.

What is Trex made of? Does it still need maintenance? What was the cost of this project?

Very nice job...I did quiet a few re-facing jobs using Trex Transcend decking, great material to work with.

Trex is good stuff, but expensive. What's the cost on a job like this?

    Nice Project, Looks Good. Enjoy!
I worked with Trex from 1995 to 2003, then I moved to TimberTech. Trex Transcends is much better than early versions of Trex that had unparalleled amounts of failures and warranty claims. The composite industry evolves and changes, right now there are some really good products available. See what I prefer - http://www.wolfhomeproducts.com/blog/2014/10/13/why-i-choose-wolf/

Trex decking is made from 95% recycled materials and will not rot, warp, or splinter. Trex decking never needs sanding, staining or painting, and over the life of your deck, these reduced maintenance costs add up to a greater value than wood.

I like both the before & after decks, but i like the after one better. I would've went with a lighter color only because the deck won't heat up as much when in direct sunlight...we prefer going barefoot in summer every chance we get :)
