Developers Seek Approvals for New Housing Complex at Hampshire Country Club

The proposed project in Mamaroneck is different than previous initiatives.

Hampshire Recreation, LLC, and Toll Brothers, Inc. are proposing a 105-unit residential housing complex at the Hampshire Country Club in Mamaroneck, a plan that is slightly scaled back from previous efforts to build on the property.

In a letter and application last week to the Village Planning Board, attorneys for the developers outlined the proposed complex, which would include 44 single-family residences and 61 townhouses.

The 94.5-acre parcel could allow for 205 units, they claim based on planning regulations, but they are scaling back that number, in part to preserve more than 49 acres of open space on the property.

Developers had sought to build a 125-unit condominium complex with an underground parking garage, that some residents opposed because they believed it would be too large.

Mamaroneck Coastal Environment Coalition, Inc. sued developers over the issue, but the case was recently dismissed by a court.
