Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra Baseball Team is back in action Tuesday afternoon when it hosts Fairfield at 3:30 p.m. at University Field.
Hofstra (9-12) is coming off a 4-1 week that saw the team record wins over Manhattan, St. John's and Villanova twice. The Hofstra pitching staff turned in outstanding work during the week, compiling a 1.50 ERA in the five games. The Hofstra bullpen pitched 16 innings on the week and allowed just 14 hits and two runs.
Chris Weiss, who was named the CAA Rookie of the Week, notched three saves.
The matchup against Fairfield will be the 19th all-time meeting between the two schools, but the first since 2010. The series is tied at nine wins apiece, though Hofstra has won four consecutive games.
Brian MacDonald (1-1) will make the start for the Pride, while Fairfield will throw either Kyle Dube (1-1) or Gavin Wallace (0-1).
The Stags are 4-13 on the season and are coming off a series against Canisius that saw them lose two of three games.
After playing Fairfield, the Pride will head to Charleston, South Carolina, for a three-game series against CAA favorite College of Charleston. The series begins Friday evening at 6 p.m.
