HONG KONG – Leading Chinese Internet firm Sohu.com has struck a deal with BBC Worldwide to screen the BBC’s factual and drama content to VoD users.

Drama series covered by the deal include “Mad Dog,” “Ripper Street” (pictured), “Sinbad,” and court room drama “Silk.” Factual titles include “Earthflight,” Frozen Planet” and “The British.”

“While the BBC’s factual programs have steadily risen in popularity in China, U.K. drama has been experiencing a surge in popularity,” said Pierre Cheung, VP and GM of BBC Worldwide China.

Sohu, which is listed on NASDAQ, spans search, gaming, community and mobile services. In January it began airing U.S. comedy show “Saturday Night Live” on its Sohu Video platform.
