Earnings for Entergy Expected to Fall

Analysts are looking for decreased profit for Entergy when the company reports its results for the first quarter on Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Entergy reported profit of $2.29 a year ago, but the consensus estimate calls for earnings per share of $1.32 this time around.

Over the past month, the consensus estimate has dipped from $1.43, but it's still up from the consensus estimate of $1.23 three months ago. For the fiscal year, analysts are projecting earnings of $5.43 per share. Analysts look for revenue to decrease 9% year-over-year to $2.93 billion for the quarter, after being $3.21 billion a year ago. For the year, revenue is expected to come in at $12.44 billion.

Revenue fell year-over-year in the fourth quarter, snapping the three-quarter streak of rising revenue.

Over the last four quarters, income rose 21% on average year-over-year. The biggest boost came in the first quarter, when income increased more than twofold from the year-ago quarter.

Entergy is an energy company involved in electric power production and retail electric distribution operations. Other companies in the electric utilities industry with upcoming earnings release dates include: Cleco, TECO and Exelon.
