The Ghana Police Service has alerted the public to be cautious dealing with persons who loiter about vicinities offering varied services to homes.

According to police intelligence, thieves and robbers have begun operating in the guise of service providers, petty hawkers and staff of the Electricity Corporation and Water Company to monitor and plan attacks on their unsuspecting victims.

Speaking to Ultimate Radio, the Director General of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service, DCOP, David Ampah-Bennin narrated a recent incident where a household was attacked and robbed of their belongings by some men disguised as ECG workers inspecting meters.

“We are sending a general caution to the public to be weary of such people who pose as shoe-shine boys, plumbers, all agents of utility services and the rest,” he noted strongly.

He advised that people insist that all service providers show proof of their identity before they are welcome into homes.

DCOP Reverend David Ampah-Bennin also cautioned house keepers and, maidens and house boys who usually stay back when people leave for work to seek the consent of their masters before allowing strangers into the house or simply ask them to return another time when matured persons are available.

This he believes will reduce if not curbs the rampant operations of these criminals.
