To function from a rented premises in Ram Nagar

Inspector General of Police (West Zone) K. Shankar inaugurated the District Police Office (DPO) that has been relocated to an old building on the premises of the Corporation Girls’ Higher Secondary School at Aranganathapuram in Ram Nagar.

The DPO will function from the rented premises until the construction of new building near the District Collectorate.

Superintendent of Police M. Sudhakar said that the shifting will be completed in the next few days.

Officials from Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation, in-charge of constructing the new DPO, said that tender has been floated to demolish the existing century-old colonial building near the District Collectorate.

Construction work of the three-storied, multi-facilitated DPO on 33,700 sq.ft. at an estimate of Rs. 6.36 crore will begin in a month, official sources said.

The old building on the school premises has been renovated to suit the needs of the police department.

People from the rural areas of the district can submit their petitions to the Superintendent of Police at the DPO located on the Corporation Girls’ Higher Secondary School premises , near Suburban School, Aranganathapuram, Ram Nagar, Gandhipuram, Coimbatore – 641009.

Officials said that construction of buildings was under way for Annur, Kovilpalayam, Anaimalai and Sulur police stations.

Construction of DSP’s office at Perur is expected to begin soon as the tender has been floated. Similarly, work will soon begin for the construction of DSP’s office at Karumathampatty.

The police are also in the process of identifying land for construction of new buildings for police stations functioning on rented premises.
