Phil Mickelson is a short-game genius, and while the average player doesn't have the ability or the gumption to pull off some of the shots he does, you can soon purchase the wedge he'll use in the biggest tournaments this year.
Callaway Golf is releasing the Mack Daddy PM Grind line of wedges, which are a reflection of a collaboration between Mickelson and wedge maker Roger Cleveland. The pair took a Mack Daddy 2 wedge and grinded a high-toe shape, adding additional materials to get the club where Mickelson felt it could perform on some of the most difficult short-game shots.
Perhaps most unique about the wedge isn't the toe shape -- which moves weighting so that the club face can get through deep rough and tough sand -- but that the surface area on the face of the wedge is covered end to end with grooves. That's atypical for wedges, but creates some versatility in shotmaking, as well confidence that even a miss high on the face can still get some spin on the ball.
The clubs hit the streets on May 15 and come in 56-, 58-, 60- and 64-degree options for $129 each.
