Pro Football Hall of Fame to Host “Salute to Greatness” on June 15-16

The Pro Football Hall of Fame will host its Fourth Annual “Salute to Greatness dinner and golf outing on Monday, June 15th and Tuesday, June 16th at the Glen Club (2901 West Lake Avenue) in Glenview, Illinois. Featuring numerous Gold Jackets (living Hall of Famers), the two-day event kicks off Monday evening with a cocktail reception, dinner, program and auction with WGN’s Pat Tomasulo as emcee and culminates Tuesday with a golf tournament followed by a reception buffet and awards ceremony.

“Salute to Greatness is co-chaired by Rob Zmudka, VP & Group Executive for GATX Corp. and Mary Owen, Executive VP and Trustee of the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation. Both Zmudka and Owen serve on the Pro Football Hall of Fame Advisory Board which was established to support the Pro Football Hall of Fame across the country in its mission to honor the heroes of the game, preserve its history, and celebrate excellence.The Hall of Fame represents values such as commitment, integrity, courage, respect and excellence that can be learned from the game and applied to all walks of life.

“The Salute to Greatness is a unique and fun event to support the Hall of Fame and a local charity as well,” says Zmudka. “It’s an incredible opportunity to be surrounded by individuals who have achieved an extraordinary level of excellence.”

This year, in addition to Hall of Fame President David Baker, confirmed attendees include Richard Dent (Chicago Bears), Dan Hampton (Chicago Bears), John Randle (Minnesota Vikings), Jan Stenerud (Kansas City Chiefs), Leroy Kelly (Cleveland Browns) and Marv Levy (Buffalo Bills), Andre Reed (Buffalo Bills), Thurman Thomas (Buffalo Bills), Anthony Munoz (Cincinnati Bengals), Randall McDaniel (Minnesota Vikings), Steve Largent (Seattle Seahawks), Dave Casper (Oakland Raiders) and from the Hall of Fame’s Class of 2015 Tim Brown (Oakland Raiders), and Will Shields (Kansas City Chief) to name a few.

“This event is a great way to spread the Hall’s mission plus with the inclusion of so many of the game’s top players, it makes the Salute to Greatness a lifetime memory,” Owen adds.

The Hall of Fame will also be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the enshrinement of Notre Dame and Chicago Bears legend George Connor who was inducted in 1975. Also a member of the College Football Hall of Fame, Connor was a first round draft pick in 1946 and became of the greatest two-way players in pro football history.

Proceeds from “Salute to Greatness” will benefit the Beyond Sports Foundation and Pro Football Hall of Fame. Each year, the advisory board selects a local charity to support and Beyond Sport’s mission is to use the power of sport to transform lives by turning athletic ability into life opportunity.
