Singapore enjoys banking edge

Singaporean banks go head to head with foreign peers in the domestic retail market.

SINGAPORE -- Southeast Asia's three biggest banks are all based in Singapore. And they are ready for regional integration.

     The three largest banks in terms of market capitalization -- DBS Group Holdings, Oversea-Chinese Banking Corp. and United Overseas Bank -- benefit from being headquartered in Southeast Asia's financial center. Their location provides them with more revenue opportunities than conventional banking. Their home market, the small city-state, also pushed them to look elsewhere for growth earlier.
