Manchester United Transfer News: Agent Claims Red Devils' Target Alves Close to 'Signing with Another Club'

Manchester United target Dani Alves' agent has revealed that his client is close to agreeing pre-contractual terms with another club after failing to get a new contract at Barcelona.

The 31-year-old right-back, who is currently on the final year of his Barcelona contract, is expected to leave the Nou Camp this summer following reports of contractual talks between the player and the La Liga side going south.

However, Alves is expected to easily find a new side as he is still regarded as one of the best right-backs in Europe, having enjoyed a stellar career at the Catalan club since his £23 million switch from Sevilla in the summer of 2008.

And Alves' agent Dinorah Santana, who also happens to be is ex-wife, has revealed that the right-back is "close to signing with another club."

"We are close to signing with another club, we are in advanced conversations," Santana told the Metro on Wednesday.

When asked whether the Brazilian would consider remaining the Camp Nou, Santana replied: "Barca? Dani is always available, but he won't wait much longer. They're making Dani look like the baddie in this movie and we're tired of this situation now."

Barcleona President Josep Maria Bartomeu refused to comment on Alves' situation last month, insisting that it was too early to talk about next season's contract issues.

Meanwhile, Manchester United defender Jonny Evans and Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse could face action from the FA, after they were both seen spitting at each other during the Red Devils 1-0 win over the Magpies on Wednesday.

After the duo were involved in an altercation while challenging for the ball towards the end of the first half, television replays appeared to show Evans spitting towards Cisse, when he was lying on the ground.

The Senegal forward also then appeared to do the same in the direction of Evans.

Newcastle manager John Carver and Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal claimed that they did not see the particular incident.

"I can't comment on it," said Carver. "I just know there was a fracas on the halfway line."

"I don't think Jonny Evans is a spitter. Maybe spitting on the floor, but we are on the bench and you cannot see from there," added van Gaal.

Referee Anthony Taylor, who was seen talking to the duo at the break, also seem to miss the incident as he did not take any action against either of the players.

However, Evans and Cisse may be facing some action from the FA Cup if the English football governing committee decided to look into the matter.

Spitting is a punishable offence and there have been many incidents when players have received bans from the FA for doing the same.

The most recent player to be punished for the offence was Hull City's George Boyd, who was banned for three games after being found guilty by the FA for spitting at Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart during a Premier League fixture in March 2014.
