Baseball: Hart takes over first place in Foothill League

In the battle for first place in the Foothill League, Hart put together a five-run fifth inning to wipe out a two-run deficit and defeat Valencia, 6-3, on Wednesday. The Indians improved to 6-1-1. Valencia dropped to 6-2.

Robert Reeves had the big hit, a two-run double. Austin Russ homered for Hart. Devin Davis hit a home run for Valencia. Saugus defeated Canyon, 2-0. Anthony Donatella threw five shutout innings. West Ranch defeated Golden Valley, 7-2.

In the Trinity League, Isaac Gutierrez struck out 11 in St. John Bosco’s 6-0 win over Servite. Tyler Smith contributed four RBI. Santa Margarita defeated Mater Dei, 2-1, in nine innings. Johnny Carr drove in Nick Wallace on a fielder’s choice. Nick Meyer pitched the eighth and ninth. Josh Stephen tied it up in the seventh with an RBI for Mater Dei. Kyle Bushhousen of Santa Margarita and Rece Goodman of Mater Dei were locked in a pitching duel.

JSerra defeated Orange Lutheran, 4-0, behind sidearmer Collin Quinn, who threw a three-hitter.

In the Baseline League, Etiwanda rallied for an 8-5 win over Damien, getting a three-run triple from Damien Berutto in the seventh. Chino Hills defeated Upland, 15-9. Elijah Greene and Christopher Ceballos hit home runs for Chino Hills. Jeff Kross had three RBI for Upland.

Kyle Molnar hit a three-run home run and also threw a complete game in Aliso Niguel’s 4-2 win over Tesoro in the South Coast League. Capistrano Valley defeated El Toro, 12-2. Ryan Hinojosa finished with three hits and four RBI, including a home run.

Patrick Sandoval struck out 11 in Mission Viejo’s 4-1 win over San Juan Hills in the Sea View League.

In the Marmonte League, Westlake defeated Oaks Christian, 3-2. Tyler Flores had two hits for the Warriors. Agoura defeated Calabasas, 2-1. Matt Lautz threw a complete game, allowing four hits. Bryce Fehmel went two for three. Thousand Oaks defeated Newbury Park, 7-2. Bailey Holbrook struck out four in a complete game. Erik Treadaway had three hits.

In the Crestview League, El Dorado stayed unbeaten with a 5-2 win over Brea Olinda. Christian Cosby had two RBI. Esperanza defeated Villa Park, 6-0. Tristan Guzman threw the shutout. Haydon Nix, Sammy Jones and Eric Bigani had two hits apiece.

In the Coastal Canyon League, Camarillo improved to 16-2 and 7-0 with a 4-2 win over Royal. Frankie Tostado got the win and Matt Whitney picked up the save. Simi Valley defeated Oak Park, 3-0. Abbott Haffar struck out five and walked none in a complete game. Timothy Walgren had two hits.

In the Sunset League, Huntington Beach defeated Los Alamitos, 7-2. Cooper Moore and Landon Silver each had two hits and two RBI. Hagen Danner struck out eight in a complete-game performance. Fountain Valley defeated Edison, 6-1.

Foothill pulled out a 5-4 nonleague win over El Modena on Dylan Doherty’s double in the seventh. He had three hits.

In the Southwestern League, Murrieta Valley defeated Vista Murrieta, 9-2. Walker Keller finished with three hits and four RBI and Matt Maitland added three hits. Nicko Cottone struck out six. Chaparral defeated Great Oak, 7-6. Casey McKelvie had two hits and three RBI. Hunter Johnson had three hits for Great Oak.

In a battle for first place in the Tri-Valley League, St. Bonaventure defeated Grace Brethren, 5-1. Easton Lucas of Grace Brethren had a scoreless innings streak of 36 1/3 innings snapped when St. Bonaventure scored four runs in the fourth inning. Jared Hiskey hit a two-run double. Jacob Bravo picked up the pitching victory.

In the Palomares League, Griffen Herrera hit a two-run home run as Glendora knocked off first-place Ayala, 5-4. Sophomore Hayden Pearce threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief. Ryan Mauch pitched South Hills past Bonita, 1-0. Ayala has a one-game lead over South Hills.

In the Del Rey League, Bishop Amat defeated La Salle, 4-3.

Campbell Hall defeated Crossroads, 3-1. Eli Edwards threw a complete game with seven strikeouts. Sloan Fischer had two hits.

In the first game of a nonleague doubleheader, Dana Hills defeated San Clemente, 2-1, behind a complete game from Marrick Crouse. He struck out six. In the second game, Dana Hills won, 5-4. Hans Crouse struck out three in two innings of relief.

Cypress defeated Tustin, 7-0, behind Garrett Brockel, who threw a one-hitter. Jeff Lim went three for three with three RBI.
