Germany's benchmark DAX index closes down

The benchmark DAX index at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Tuesday dropped by more than 100 points due to Greek debt concern.

The lingering Greek debt crisis is weighing on the sentiment of investors and the blue-chip index dropped by 138.23 points, or 1.25 percent and closed at 10,944.97 points.

K+S Aktiengesellschaft, an agricultural chemical and salt company and Continental AG were the only two risers among the 30 DAX member shares, up by 3.9 percent and 0.05 percent each.

ThyssenKrupp AG dropped by 2.87 percent. Infineon Technologies AG, a semiconductor producer, slipped by 2.2 percent. Siemens AG lost 1.88 percent. Volkswagen AG Vz plunged by 1.84 percent and LANXESS AG, a special chemicals company, went down by 1.64 percent.

The turnover stood at 6.1 billion euros (around 6.77 billion U.S. dollars ). Daimler AG was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 578.21 million euros (around 641.49 million U.S. dollars). Endit
