Google Plus surprised the Twitterverse with its first ever tweet in four years since its account was created in July 2011.

With the handle @GooglePlus, the social networking platform decided to call out for love for its first tweet on May 1, 2015.

Many are wondering why the company has decided to tweet afre recently releasing a statement in March that it has plans to dismantle the company's network into two separate products, with one focusing on streams, the other on photos, according to Mashable.

The announcement that Google Plus will split its network did not elicite much reaction from users. It has never been able to level its 111 million users with the billion-strong users of Facebook and 302 million users of Twitter, IBN Live notes.

So why tweet at this time? Is Google Plus is sending a singificant message within its message.

Mashable thiks so: Google Plus might be saying that while they are giving up on being a social network, users will may hear from them about something new soon enough.
