Indiana State Police have arrested a man in connection with an Indiana University student's death.

Hannah Wilson's body was found Friday nearly 20 miles from IU Bloomington's campus in Needmore. She was reported missing that afternoon.

Authorities say an investigation led them to arrest 49-year-old Dan Messel, of Bloomington.

WXIN reports Messel is being held on a preliminary charge of murder.

School officials tweeted on Friday, "The campus community is shocked and saddened by the death of IU senior Hannah Wilson. Our deepest condolences go to her family and friends."

Administrators at Hamilton Southeastern High School, where she graduated in 2011, tweeted, "Our heart breaks at the loss of @HSESchools alum Hannah Wilson. Our thoughts & prayers go out to her loved ones and entire school community."

An autopsy is expected to conclude sometime today. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
