Dick's Sporting Goods, which plans to move out of ShoppingTown Mall and into the Kmart plaza on Erie Boulevard in DeWitt, plans to open its new store in summer 2015, the developer says.

Manhattan-based Brixmor Property Group also plans to rename the Kmart plaza, but won't do so until after it has added other retailers, the developer said.

Dick's Sporting Goods has signed a lease to open a 50,000-square-foot store, and Brixmor is in the process of securing another top retailer to occupy the remaining 34,000 square feet of anchor space, the developer said.

Brixmor also plans to add an additional retailer where the Kmart garden center is located, and also plans to build a small retail building in the parking lot. Those stores are targeted to open in the fourth quarter of 2015, the developer said.

Kmart recently announced it is closing its DeWitt store in mid-January, leaving that space empty. Dick's will move out of its anchor spot in ShoppingTown to relocate one-third of a mile away.

Brixmor owns numerous shopping centers across the United States, and operates about 522 properties in cities from Tampa to Los Angeles.

DeWitt planners will need to approve proposed plans for the Kmart plaza.

Dick's Sporting Goods been located at ShoppingTown Mall for many years. It opened a new store in Destiny USA in August 2012.
