Allegheny Intermediate Unit to distribute $530,000 in STEAM grants to 28 school districts

The Allegheny Intermediate Unit's Center for Creativity announced Friday it will distribute $530,000 in STEAM grants to 28 school districts in Allegheny, Beaver, Greene, Lawrence, Mercer, Washington and Westmoreland counties.

The Chevron Corporation, the Claude Worthington Benedum and the Grable Foundations provided up to $20,000 in grant funding to districts looking to enhance and create programs focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.

The grants will fund projects such as a virtual immersion lab in Montour School District, a robotics lab in Sharon City School District and an outdoor discovery zone in Fort Cherry School District. Districts submitted grant proposals, and funding was awarded based on ideas' sustainability, implementation, relevance and STEAM integration.
