Looking to invest in collectible athletic shoes, including first-generation Air Jordans by Nike?

Today could be your lucky day — as long as you're OK with the fact someone else has worn most of them.

On the auction block: 238 pairs of gently worn basketball shoes by Nike and Adidas that were seized by an undisclosed police department.

"Some of them ... don't look like they've been worn at all," said Anthony Russo, general manager of Repocast, which is handling the auction. The others "are all in great condition, worn only a few times. All have original boxes with them."

Most of the shoes are limited editions. "The majority of the shoes we have here, you can no longer buy at a retail store," Russo said.

Shoes are available in sizes for men, women and kids. Proceeds from the auction will go back to the police department that seized the shoes. It's Repocast's first shoe auction. Usually the company finds itself selling cars, tractors and other equipment, according to Russo.
