Beck's Expands in Central Iowa

Beck's Hybrids announced building plans on a site purchased in Colfax, Iowa. The new facility will be located on 80 acres and feature a 90,000 square foot seed distribution facility, Practical Farm Research (PFR) studies, and will be used to provide farmers with continued agronomic support and education.

This location will be the third in Iowa. Currently, Beck's has a facility in Mt. Pleasant, which provides seed processing and distribution, along with sales and agronomic support. The second location in Marshalltown serves as a research station for corn breeding and testing.

"We're not only excited to plant our roots deeper in Iowa, but we're thrilled to have the opportunity to work more closely with Iowa farmers," said Scott Beck, president of Beck's. "By adding a facility in central Iowa, we will be able to provide local distribution, premier agronomic research and services, and the broadest choices of seed and traits available in agriculture."

The new location will also serve as a resource for farmers to learn and make decisions from Beck's PFR program. Designed with the farmer in mind, Beck's PFR studies highlight how different management practices and new technologies perform in field environments, according to a company report. Farmers can expect to see PFR studies during the 2016 growing season.
