Angel: LSJ committed to connecting communities

Stephanie Angel
Lansing State Journal

We empower communities to connect, act and thrive.

That is the mission statement of the new Gannett, parent company of the Lansing State Journal and 91 other local media organizations across the country.

Those eight words seems like a simple mission.

We empower communities to connect, act and thrive.

Reporting news and information helps you connect with your neighbors.

Watchdog and public service journalism give our communities the ammunition they need to act — to hold their public officials accountable or rally around a cause.

Stories that celebrate what’s right about our community, or provide solutions for what’s wrong, allow our community to grow and thrive.

Yet our mission extends beyond our news coverage.

We empower communities to connect, act and thrive.

Our sales team has the same mission for its clients, helping businesses connect with potential customers.

Advertising is information, and Greater Lansing benefits when local businesses effectively share their messages.

Thriving businesses are vital to a thriving community.

We empower communities to connect, act and thrive.

As we move forward in our new Gannett, we’ll push for deeper connections. You’ll see us as partners in your community, rather than the ones who cover it. We’ll work alongside you on issues and projects of local significance. And we’ll share in the celebration as Greater Lansing continues its momentum in building a region where people want to live, work and play.
