Bronxville Resident William Mulrow Named Gov. Cuomo's Top Aide

Mulrow was a senior managing director at the prestigious alternative asset management firm Blackstone Group LP.

William Mulrow, a Bronxville resident, has been named Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s secretary, the top aide in Cuomo’s administration as he begins his second term.

Cuomo said in a statement that Mulrow’s appointment, with those of other administrative positions, is about bringing in new ideas to help move the state forward.

“New ideas and talent are critical to innovation and success. This team will build on the extraordinary progress made over the last four years by bringing experience, energy and fresh perspectives to the table,” said Gov. Cuomo. “This is an incredibly accomplished and dedicated group of individuals, and I am proud to welcome them to their new roles. Together we will continue moving New York State forward.”

Mulrow is a political and business veteran with years of experience in both areas. During Cuomo’s first term,for example, Mulrow served as chairman of the New York State Housing Finance Agency and the State of New York Mortgage Agency.

Mulrow replaces Larry Schwartz, who is taking a private sector job. Bloomberg reports that Schwartz was questioned during the investigation into the handling of the anti-corruption Moreland Commission.
