Tuesday Sector Leaders: Services, Materials

In afternoon trading on Tuesday, Services stocks are the best performing sector, not showing much of a loss. Within that group, Netflix Inc. (NASD: NFLX) and PulteGroup, Inc. (NYSE: PHM) are two large stocks leading the way, showing a gain of 3.7% and 2.1%, respectively. Among the largest ETFs, one ETF closely following services stocks is the iShares U.S. Consumer Services ETF (AMEX: IYC), which is down 0.2% on the day, and up 6.48% year-to-date. Netflix Inc., meanwhile, is up 29.00% year-to-date, and PulteGroup, Inc. is up 2.89% year-to-date. NFLX makes up approximately 0.8% of the underlying holdings of IYC.

The next best performing sector is the Materials sector, not showing much of a loss. Among large Materials stocks, CF Industries Holdings Inc (NYSE: CF) and Martin Marietta Materials, Inc. (NYSE: MLM) are the most notable, showing a gain of 1.7% and 1.1%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Materials stocks is the Materials Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLB), which is down 0.1% in midday trading, and up 1.64% on a year-to-date basis. CF Industries Holdings Inc, meanwhile, is up 8.80% year-to-date, and Martin Marietta Materials, Inc. is up 28.25% year-to-date. Combined, CF and MLM make up approximately 4.0% of the underlying holdings of XLB.
