GM auto sales in China hit record in February


(MENAFN) Data showed that auto sales of General Motors Co. (GM) and its joint ventures in China have reached a record of 261,072 units in February, increasing 1.3 percent on-year, Xinhua reported.

In terms of brand, Buick sales edged down 0.1 percent to 59,088 units last month, Chevrolet sales soared 2.5 percent to 47,521 units and Cadillac sales hit a record of 5,959 units, up 36.1 percent.

Last month, Shanghai GM's domestic sales were up 2.4 percent on-year, reaching 112,568 vehicles, while SAIC-GM-Wuling's sales were up 3. 9 percent, the Detroit-based automaker said in a statement.

GM Chief Financial Officer expected China's auto industry to grow between 5 and 8 percent this year. In response, the automaker and its joint ventures planned to invest USD14 billion in China through 2018.
