The AAP has asked its MPs to give a report on the work they have done over the past one year, a day after three party parliamentarians met to register their unhappiness over the recent appointments in the Punjab state unit.

According to Dharamvira Gandhi, party MP from Patiala, he received an SMS from AAP's Punjab's observer and senior party leader Sanjay Singh asking for a detailed report on the work done.

"I received an SMS at 12.47 today from Sanjay Singh saying the party chief has asked for a report on three points. One is how many questions of public interest have we raised in the Parliament. Second how have we contributed to the party's growth in our constituency. Third how much work did we do in our constituency?

"We have been asked to respond to it in next five days and we have enough time to do that," Gandhi said. Incidentally, the response from AAP MPs come at a point when three of them met on Monday and registered their unhappiness over the functioning of the party in the state.

A meeting was held at Patiala MP Dhamrvira Gandhi's residence, along with Sadhu Singh and Harinder Singh Khalsa, parliamentarians from Faridkot and Fatehgarh Sahib respectively.

Gandhi said the party has appointed "parallels" in all 13 parliamentary constituencies without "consulting the party MPs".

"We felt MPs were ignored while making these appointments and not taken into confidence. All should have been consulted. Where is Swaraj in this which the party keeps talking about? We have knowledge which is critical to the state in terms of heritage, culture and people.

"These people (those appointed) were not taken into confidence and are without much political credentials pertaining to AAP," Gandhi said. In an email dated July 6 by Harinder Singh Khalsa to party's state disciplinary committee chief Daljit Singh, another AAP MP from Fatehgarh Sahib made a scathing attack on party's Punjab observer Sanjay Singh and state convenor Such Singh Chhotepur.

"I think both are out to destroy the spirit of the party. What about the respect for the constitution of the party and respect for the only four MPs of the party elected from Punjab. Is Sanjay Singh bigger than the State Executive. And what is the Party. Is it only Sanjay Singh.

"I am afraid there is a move to disintegrate or at least take the spirit out of the party. We will certainly not sit back and let the rotten stuff come to the fore.We will not let the people of Punjab to be befooled and betrayed by a handful of non-entities,"

Despite several attempts Sadhu Singh and Harinder Singh Khalsa were unavailable for their comments.

When contacted, Daljit Singh said he has alerted the party leadership about the developments in the state, but there has been no response.

"I have written to Arvind Kejriwal so many times about the developments in the state unit, but there has been no response," said.

Incidentally, the Patiala MP had spoken out against the party leadership after Prashant Bhushan, Yogendra Yadav, Anand Kumar and Ajit Jha were removed from the National Executive, questioning the "constitutionality" of the decision. Following this, he was removed as the AAP's parliamentary party leader and replaced by Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann, considered to be close to party leadership in Delhi.

After its drubbing and without much success anywhere in the country, the party won four seats in Punjab in last Lok Sabha polls. Following this, the party has been making efforts to strengthen its base in state, keeping state polls in mind.

The party has also been trying to replicate the organisation on the lines of Delhi, which helped it win 67 seats in the assembly polls this year.

Last week, the party also announced major organisational restructuring in its state unit. To build a "robust and extensive" organisation in Punjab, the party announced appointment of 13 observers and coordinators at zonal level and formed several wings to deepen its presence.

"To raise issues effectively, we need a strong organisation (in Punjab). Nine Vidhan Sabha constituencies and one Lok Sabha constituency will be part of one zone each" senior AAP leader and party's state observer Sanjay Singh had said.
