ANGELES CITY—Business-process outsourcing (BPO) firm Convergys Philippines, the largest private employer in the country with some 60,000 workers, on Tuesday opened its new hub at the SM City Clark here.
The launching came as the information and communications technology (ICT) and BPO players based in the country and are expecting a $25-billion income from the industry by 2016, based on a report. There will be at least 1.3 million BPO workers next year, it added.
Top officials of Convergys, including Convergys Corp. Chief Operating Officer Marjorie Connelly and Convergys Senior Vice President and Country Manager Ivic Mueco, graced the launching highlighted by the fashion show at the SM City Clark Event Center and the company’s “Give a Bag of Hope” campaign, which benefited at least 675 Ayta elementary students based in Floridablanca, Pampanga.
“It’s an honor to join our Philippines team and celebrate the growth of our Clark site. This expansion is representative of our commitment to investing in our people and communities. Convergys Philippines continues to be a critical part of our global operations, and an important service destination for our clients,” Connelly said.
The dedication and excellent service delivered by the Clark team has enabled our ongoing growth. The 40-percent increase to 700 employees over the past year is significant, and we are excited to continue to grow. As we launch our new site, we also take pride in our Clark team strengthening their service to the community,” Mueco said.
The opening of the 34th contact center facility of Convergys in the country signaled the company’s firm commitment to largely contribute to the BPO work force in country which breached 1 million this year, said Hanica Pacis, Convergys director for communications.
Mueco said “your family’s bright future” is guaranteed when you are working for Convergys.” She described the workers in Pampanga “as priceless.”
