Users will be able to access BBC iPlayer with a familiar press of the red button on their remote control, and the amount of live-streamed content on offer from BBC Sport will be increased.

Viewers can also call up news stories, video highlights and weather forecast information without leaving the channel they are watching.

Those who prefer the original Red Button service will find the option to revert back to it in the settings menu.

Red Button+ will be available on TVs from Samsung, Sony, LG, Panasonic, Sharp, Toshiba and more, as well as services from EE, YouView, and Tivo.
