ARCADIS announces Asia leadership appointment

The leadership transition follows the retirement of Joseph Lee, Chief Executive of Langdon & Seah, effective 31 December 2014.



Mr. Lee joined Langdon & Seah in 1974 and became the Chairman of Langdon & Seah Asia in 2009,  becoming its  Chief Executive in 2012 following the merger with ARCADIS. In his 40 years with the firm he has been involved in a wide range of projects in Hong Kong, China and Macau. He was one of the pioneers of quantity surveying services in China in the 1980s providing construction cost management consultancy to property developers and investors. This led to the establishment of the first Langdon & Seah office in China in 1993 - in Shanghai. Under Mr Lee's leadership, turnover of the Asia business has doubled since 2009, with 11 new offices being opened in the same period. Since the 2012 merger, Mr. Lee has led Langdon & Seah to continue  this growth whilst also overseeing the successful integration of the Langdon & Seah operations into ARCADIS.

Mr. Poon graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic in 1975 in Quantity Surveying and joined Langdon & Seah in the same year. He became a partner in 1988, Managing Director in 1997, and Chairman for Langdon & Seah China and Hong Kong in May 2012. After Langdon & Seah joined ARCADIS, Mr. Poon has been a member of the LS Board, and was responsible for the operations in China and Hong Kong. He has a strong project and client background, and has been directly responsible for the growth of Langdon & Seah in China, starting from the first marquee projects in Shanghai and Beijing, to the present day. Under his leadership, Langdon & Seah's business in mainland China has grown since the 90s to 19 offices with over 1,500 staff. It is now unequivocally the largest international cost management firm with a Grade A qualification in China. Since Langdon & Seah joined ARCADIS, Mr.Poon has played a leading role in establishing the ARCADIS Asia organization.
