Woodloch Pines Resort, Long Known For Uniting Families, Joins the World's Largest Family Reunion

HAWLEY, Pa., May 26, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Voted the number one family resort in the United States by TripAdvisor's Travelers Choice Awards, Woodloch Pines is no stranger to family reunions. With over 57 years of experience in bringing generations of families together, it was a natural fit for the all-inclusive resort, located in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains, to join author A.J. Jacobs at the Global Family Reunion in his goal of showing the world just how closely we are all related. Woodloch Pines' engaging social staff will create a mini-Woodloch experience, featuring some of their signature games such as Dessert Wars, Name That Tune, and Ring Toss. The resort will also raffle off a grand prize giveaway: an all-inclusive two-night package for a family of four.

About the Global Family Reunion:

The world's largest family tree is currently estimated at about 240 million people and growing. For the first time, attendees can learn how they are related to almost any other human on earth at the Global Family Reunion, the largest, most inclusive, most star‐studded family reunion in history. A mix between a family‐friendly festival and a TED conference, the Global Family Reunion features talks from scientists, entertainers and thought leaders in addition to concerts, interactive events, global food trucks, and activities for kids. In short, it's a can't-miss, fun-filled day that everyone can enjoy!

Attendees will have the chance to come together with A.J. Jacobs, New York Times bestselling author (The Year of Living Biblically), as well as special guests: Ted Allen (Food Network), Dr. Mehmet Oz, comedian Nick Kroll, magician David Blaine, Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates, singer Lisa Loeb, filmmaker Morgan Spurlock, musical group Sister Sledge (singing their hit, We Are Family) and many more. This all‐day festival celebrates the inter-connectedness of all human beings and allows attendees to meet the cousins they never knew they had. "My hope is that once we realize just how closely we are all related, we will be a bit kinder to each other," said Jacobs, who is writing a new book based on his experience of building the world's largest family tree.

All proceeds from the not-for-profit event will benefit two organizations devoted to finding a cure for Alzheimer's disease: Cure Alzheimer's Fund and the Alzheimer's Association New York Chapter.
