Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) Tuesday said first-quarter attributable net income increased to $964 million from $828 million in the prior year. Earnings per share rose to $1.87 from $1.54.
On average, 18 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of $1.67 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Operating revenues fell to $21.33 billion from $33.66 billion in the previous year. Analysts expected revenues of $15.37 billion.
Valero still expects 2015 capital spending, including turnarounds and catalyst, to be $2.65 billion.
