Portland General Electric crews mobilized for winter-like conditions

A full complement of about 80 Portland General Electric work crews has been mobilized along with contract crews to prepare for Thursday's expected winter-like conditions.

"We're geared up," PGE spokesman Steve Corson said.

No outages had been reported Thursday morning related to the snow and sleet conditions forecast.

However, about 2,300 PGE customers were without power Thursday as a result of the high winds that have pelted the area the past two days.

"We have crews working through the night trying to bring customers back from the wind that we've had the past few days," Corson said.

The customers that remain without electricity typically are "in small pockets, one or two to a few dozen customers," Corson said.

He said the biggest concentration of outages was on Clackamas County's east side.
