Krystal to open on Stonebridge

David Thomas
The Jackson Sun

Renovation continues at 12 Stonebridge Blvd. for a new Krystal.

When the store opens — it's scheduled for June 22 — Krystal will have two locations in town.

The fast-food chain famous for serving square hamburgers on steamed buns has a franchise at 1978 N. Highland Ave., which will remain open.

Company officials expect to hire about 60 employees to staff the Stonebridge Boulevard location, a previous home to one of two Backyard Burgers.

The North Highland Avenue store has about 32 employees.

Store hours remain the same for both locations: 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday; drive through 6 a.m. to 1 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. The drive through is open 24 hours each Friday and Saturday, but the lobby closes at midnight.

Ridgecrest Road

Land being cleared east of Stonewater Place Apartments on Ridgecrest Road extended is causing quite a bit of conversation.

But according to the city planning department, no development is planned. The owner is simply logging, or clearing the property.

AT&T Cellular World moving

The move will be a short distance away when AT&T Cellular World moves to Meridian Plaza, 2101 Meridian Springs Drive, which is directly across from their existing location at 2158 S. Highland Ave.

Hibbett Sports relocating

Hibbett Sports takes residence at 2538 Christmasville Cove in September, in a 5,500-square-foot facility being constructed by Gary A. Taylor Investment Co., near Food Giant in Park Place West.

Hibbett Sports, which has been in Jackson since 1982, is located in the Old Hickory Mall.

Bemis Heritage Days

The Bemis Historical Society's annual Bemis Heritage Days will be held in the Bemis Mill Village Museum, North Missouri Street, today and Saturday.

Besides food and visiting the historic museum, entertainment features the W.S. Holland Band from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today.

A self-guided CD tour of Bemis, free health checks, an exhibit by the Peace by Piece Quilt Club, and barbeque highlight the events which run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Tennessee CNG rally

Trenton is one of the stops when the Tennessee Gas Association hosts the 2015 TGA Compressed Natural Gas Across Tennessee Rally, Monday through May 22.

CNG across Tennessee showcases Tennessee's Compressed Natural Gas Highway, which means a natural gas vehicle, fleet or semi-tractor trailer truck can drive across the state of Tennessee refueling with domestic natural gas as vehicle fuel.

When the CNG Rally visits Trenton at 1 p.m. Tuesday, it will be to the state's first green refueling station, the Gibson County Energy Complex, at Gibson County Utility District — the only public/private compressed natural gas refueling station between Memphis and Nashville.

The Gibson County Energy Complex will provide cleaner, domestic, abundant, lower-cost fuel for inbound and outbound material supply, public and private service organizations and public transportation agencies. The station will also help reduce the area's dependence on foreign oil imports.

Amphitheater at the Market

The Jimmy Church Band plays the Amphitheater at the Market, May 22, and Little Boys Blue is on deck for June 5.

Both concerts begin at 7:30 p.m., and both are free.

"The attitude toward the AMP has been great," Jimmy Exum, chairman of the Amphitheater, said. "The feeling is great and the people are enthusiastic."

Exum said the new sponsor patio went over well, and the facility is looking to add a few lights.

"There are other plans, but we'll have to wait and see," Exum said. "You've always got to improve, but having the sponsor (patio) is a step up. This is affordable … sponsors are the only thing we are having to sell, and we still have a couple we are trying to convince."

Heaven's Cradle Foundation fundraiser

The third annual Twilight Run & Rooftop Rendezvous will be held at 6 p.m. May 28 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

The event benefits Heaven's Cradle Foundation Fund, founded by Gary and Abby Lackey in 2011 in memory of their son, Davis Arnold Lackey, to provide assistance and comfort to families suffering perinatal loss.

The group is working to remove the silence surrounding infant loss and to ease the suffering of grieving parents and grandparents. Funds raised this year will continue the mission of helping families create memories with their baby, memorializing babies through the Walk to Remember and Serenity Garden, supporting grieving families with an active support group, and assisting caregivers.

The event includes the annual Twilight 5K Run and 1 mile Run/Walk and a rooftop rendezvous with live music from the Dirt Pilgrims and dinner by Tulum Fresh Mexican Grill.

Early registration is $30, which includes dinner and a T-shirt. Runners must register by May 21 to be guaranteed a T-shirt. Late registration (May 22 or later) is $35. Rendezvous dinner tickets are $10 and open to anyone, not only runners. The run will be held at Parking Garage No. 3 (700 West Forest Ave.) on the campus of Jackson-Madison County General Hospital with dinner atop the garage. Music, dinner and pre-registration is from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., with the run beginning at 6:30 p.m.
