INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – The City-County Council has pushed back a vote on a package of tax incentives for online rating service Angie’s List to expand its Indianapolis headquarters.

The Indianapolis Star reports the $18.5 million incentive package was sent back to committee, getting delayed a second time after residents expressed concern over the company’s profit troubles. Angie’s List has never had a profitable year.

The company would invest $40 million to convert a century-old former Ford assembly plant into office space. It says the proposal would create space for about 800 current and 1,000 new employees.

Officials with Angie’s List have said the project isn’t possible without government help. About $9.6 million from Indianapolis would go to street improvements and a parking garage owned by the company. Another $6.75 million would go to moving a school warehouse from the Ford building.
