Pinoys to get a taste of Pangaea, Chaos nightclubs at Melco Crown's City of Dreams Manila

The Philippine unit of Macau-based casino and resort developer Melco Crown Entertainment Limited is bringing global nightclub brands to the City of Dreams Manila in Entertainment City.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange Tuesday, Melco Crown (Philippines) Resorts Corp. said it collaborated with The Ault Group, the nightclub consulting firm led by the ‘International King of Clubs’ Michael Van Cleef Ault to bring internationally-acclaimed Pangaea and Chaos into the fast-growing Philippine market.

“Introducing world-class clubs and a sophisticated international nightlife experience to City of Dreams Manila reinforces our overall entertainment destination strategy, as envisioned by Mr. Lawrence Ho, Co-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Melco Crown Entertainment Limited, and further enhances the regional and international leisure destination appeal of Manila," Melco Crown (Philippines) chairman and president Clarence Chung said in a statement.

Chung said the nightclub brands, inspired by Ault, are two of the world’s most recognized and successful nightclubs that they expect to set the standards for exciting nightlife in Manila.

Pangaea, which pioneered the “Ultra-Lounge” concept in the 90’s, is known for its bespoke furniture and custom-made dance tiers.

Chaos, meanwhile, is credited for being the world’s first ‘bottle service’ night club and was declared as "The Hottest Club in New York" by New York Times Magazine when it opened in 1996.

PHL an important market

The Philippines is the third Asian market for The Ault Group, its founder said in the same statement.

“The Philippines is a highly important market with extraordinary growth potential. It has a huge young and educated demography, many of whom have traveled the world and seek the very best in nightlife entertainment," Ault said.

Both clubs will be in City of Dreams Manila's Fortune Egg, an architecturally-unique dome-like structure and accented by creative exterior lighting design.

Expected to open in the fourth quarter, City of Dreams Manila will have six hotel towers from global brands Nobu Hotel, Crown Towers and Hyatt Hotel. Apart from gaming facilities, it will also have several specialty restaurants and bars.

Melco Crown, run by Australian billionaire James Packer and Macau gambling tycoon Stanley Ho, has teamed up with leisure firm Belle Corp. to develop and operate the resort in the 100-hectare Entertainment City gaming complex.

The other licenseholders in Entertainment City are Andrew Tan's Travellers International Hotel Group Inc., Kazuo Okada's Tiger Resorts Leisure and Entertainment Inc., and Enrique Razon's Bloomberry Resorts Corp. – Danessa O. Rivera/VS, GMA News
