Unilever's revenue down 2.7 percent in 2014


(MENAFN) Anglo-Dutch goods firm Unilever said its 2014 revenue dropped by 2.7 percent to USD56.1 billion, including a negative currency impact of 4.6 percent, Xinhua reported.

The producer of Lipton tea, Knorr food, Dove soap, Omo laundry products and Ben and Jerry's ice cream said its underlying sales growth in 2014 reached 2.9 percent.

Unilever's net profit last year rose by 5 percent, hitting a total of USD6.35 billion. In the fourth quarter of 2014, Unilever's underlying sales growth was 2.1 percent, over the same period last year.

Sales in China dipped by 20 percent in the fourth quarter as retailers reduced their stocks of Personal Care and Home Care. In Europe, annual underlying sales dropped 2.1 percent in 2014.
