Islamabad: Even as the nation is recovering from the brutal massacre of over 130 school children in Peshawar by Taliban, the militant outfit has issued another threat – stop killing our terrorists or we will target the children of top politicians and Army officials.

The militants have even threatened to target the children of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The shocking threat has reportedly been made by the Tehrik-e-Taliban (TTP) in a letter sent to the government.

The letter, allegedly written by the TTP commander Mohammed Kharasani, states that if the government continues to hang terrorists, then Taliban will continue to target the children of top politicians and Army personnel.

The authorities are trying to verify the authenticity of the letter.

The threat comes days after six Taliban militants attacked an army-run school in Peshawar and killed 148 people.

Shortly after the Peshawar masacre, Pakistan lifted the 2008 moratorium on the death penalty and executed terrorists – Usman and Arshad Mehmood.

While Usman was involved in the 2009 attack in the Pakistan Army headquarters in Rawalpindi, Mehmood was involved in 2003 assassination bid of military ruler General Pervez Musharraf, the Dawn online had reported.

In the first phase, some 17 terrorists would be hanged while 45 in the second phase before initiating the last phase, completing the execution of remaining over 8,000 death row prisoners, the PTI reported.

The Pakistani government also stepped up its military operation against the the terror outfit killing at least 67 militants.
