An 18-year-old man suspected of burglarizing four churches waived his preliminary hearing Tuesday.

Landon Perry Grier’s next court appearance, a status conference, is set for 10:30 a.m. April 23.

On Tuesday, Defense Attorney Riley Selleck asked for his client’s cash or surety bond to be changed to a PR bond. District Judge Patrick Murphy reduced the $2,500 cash or surety bond by half.

Grier is expected to post bond. Murphy said monitored sobriety and a 9 p.m. curfew are conditions of bond.

Deputy District Attorney Stacey Turner said Grier may be required to pay $30,000 to $40,000 in restitution.

According to Grier’s arrest affidavit, items he is suspected of stealing include an Apple router, strobe light, up to 10 baby bottles filled with change, laser pointer, television and a DVD player.

The affidavit states he allegedly damaged church doors, locks, filing cabinets, a sound board box and a lock box.

Cañon City Police Department Det. Robyn Vidmar said March 5 that Grier is suspected of burglarizing Christian Family Fellowship, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Cañon Community Baptist Church and First Southern Baptist Church.

Vidmar said Grier’s mother called authorities after discovering items she didn’t think belonged to her son. A member of First Southern Baptist was able to identify some of the allegedly stolen items, she said.

Not all of the items have been recovered, and the investigation is still ongoing, Vidmar said.

Grier turned himself in soon after a CCPD arrest warrant was issued Feb. 20.

Law enforcement charged Grier with second-degree burglary, criminal mischief and theft.
