KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Kansas City pitcher Yordano Ventura has been given a seven-game suspension by Major League Baseball for his part in a bench-clearing brawl earlier this week. Overall, seven members of the Royals and White Sox were punished for their roles in the melee. Royals starter Edinson Volquez was given a five-game suspension.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Today's game between the Royals and White Sox in Kansas City has been postponed because of bad weather. The decision also delays completion of the game started last night that was called because of bad weather. Plans call for that game to be completed tomorrow before the regularly scheduled game.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — There's NASCAR action tonight at Richmond International Raceway. Based on yesterday's qualifying Joey Logano will start the race from the pole. He has three pole wins this year in nine races.

UNDATED (AP) — In afternoon NBA playoff action the first game has Brooklyn playing host to Atlanta. The Hawks top the best-of-seven series 2-0. The other day game features Milwaukee at home to Chicago. The Bulls are looking to close out the series with a four-game sweep.

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) — Washington's Capitals can move on to the second round of the playoffs with a win this afternoon against the Islanders in New York. The Caps top the best-of-seven affair 3-2, with game six, if needed, Monday in Washington.
