Murder charge over man found stabbed to death in his car after being ambushed 50 miles from home

  • Stawski, 34, was remanded in custody until another hearing on Tuesday 

A man charged with the brutal murder of a man found stabbed to death in a car has appeared in court.

Rafal Stawski was charged with the murder of Wojciech Ryniak, 35, who died after he was ambushed while sitting in his vehicle in Oxford.

Mr Ryniak, who was due to travel to homeland of Poland next week and was 50 miles from his home in Gloucestershire, died in hospital in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Stawski, 34, was charged after detectives searched his home in Oxford last night.

He appeared at Oxford Magistrates' Court this afternoon and was remanded in custody until his next hearing at Oxford Crown Court on Tuesday. 

A 31-year-old man was charged in connection with an incident shortly after the stabbing on Tuesday evening.

Marek Hndia, from Oxford, was charged with one count of conspiracy to commit robbery and possession of a stun gun.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said: 'A 31-year-old man has been charged in connection with a robbery in Oxford.

'Marek Hnida was charged late last night with one count of conspiracy to commit robbery and possession of a weapon.

'The charge relates to an incident in Mayfair Road, Oxford, on Tuesday evening when a man in his thirties was confronted by other men in a property. They demanded cash and threatened him.'

Hnida was due to appear at Oxford Magistrates' Court today.
