Sherwin-Williams CEO Chris Connor named chairman of Cleveland Federal Reserve board

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Christopher Connor, chairman and CEO of Sherwin-Williams Co. of Cleveland, has been named chairman of the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland for 2015.

Connor was deputy chairman of the board for the last two years and has served as a director since 2011.

The Cleveland Fed's nine-member board supervises the bank's operations, reviews its budget and is responsible for the internal audit program of the bank.

Named as deputy chairman is John Surma, retired CEO of United States Steel Corp. in Pittsburgh.

The appointments were made by the Federal Reserve's Board of Governors in Washington, D.C.

Connor succeeds Richard Smucker, CEO of J.M. Smucker Co., in Orrville who served as deputy chairman from 2010 to 2012, and as chairman in 2013 and 2014.
