Cowboy Commit Nick Starkel On Team Hyper Cool

Oklahoma State took what some may consider a risk a while back and it's paying off now

The Elite 11 are meeting at the Nike Headquarters in Oregon this week and the Cowboys will have a representative there in the form of quarterback commit Nick Starkel, who has surprised some in recent months.

Starkel is the No. 24 pro-style quarterback in the 2016 class according to 24/7 sports but wasn't as highly regarded when the Cowboys offered him as OSU was his first power five offer.

From Scout.com/ Bleacher Report

"The coaches told me they didn't care how many stars I had or how many or which schools offered me, they wanted me," Starkel told Robert Allen of Scout.com.

In the past few months since being offered by the Cowboys, Starkel has received more offers, including one from Texas A&M.

Flash forward to July, Starkel is one of the 18 remaining quarterbacks in the nation to be named to a team and will be facing off in a 7-on-7 tournament. Starkel will be on team Hyper Cool along with other quarterback recruit Deontay Anderson. You can see the rest of the Hyper Cool roster here.

The Elite 11 and the Opening are two different things, you can find out the difference and what happens along with how to watch here. Cowboys Ride For Free will be covering the event and Starkels time there closely throughout the week.
