EPS Estimates for American International Group Improved In Last Month

In the month leading up to the American International Group's third quarter earnings announcement slated for Monday, November 3, 2014, expectations have risen for the upcoming results. The consensus analyst estimate has gone from $1.02 per share to the current projection of earnings of $1.08 per share.

Over the past three months, the consensus estimate has increased from $1.03. For the fiscal year, analysts are expecting earnings of $4.63 per share. Analysts look for revenue to decrease 42% year-over-year to $8.57 billion for the quarter, after being $14.83 billion a year ago. For the year, revenue is expected to come in at $33.97 billion.

Revenue has seen growth for three consecutive quarters. The 9% revenue increase brought the figure up to $16.11 billion in the most recent quarter. Looking back further, revenue increased 1% in the first quarter from the year earlier and 66% in the fourth quarter.

The majority of analysts (56%) rate AIG as a buy. This compares favorably to the analyst ratings of nine similar companies, which average 55% buys.
