Hovnanian Enterprises Loss Expected to Narrow

Hovnanian Enterprises is expected to book a narrower loss than a year ago when it reports first-quarter earnings on Thursday, March 12, 2015. Analysts are expecting a loss of six cents per share, up from a loss of 17 cents per share a year ago.

The consensus estimate remains unchanged over the past month, but it has decreased from three months ago when it was a loss of four cents. Analysts are expecting earnings of 14 cents per share for the fiscal year. Revenue is projected to be $435.4 million for the quarter, 20% above the year-earlier total of $364 million. For the year, revenue is expected to come in at $2.34 billion.

Over the last four quarters, revenue rose 29% on average year-over-year. The biggest boost came in the most recent quarter, when revenue increased 92% from the year-ago quarter.

Hovnanian Enterprises designs, constructs, and markets single-family homes, townhomes, and condominiums in planned residential communities. KB Home, also in the construction services industry, will report earnings on Friday, March 20, 2015. Analysts are expecting earnings of $0.02 per share for KB Home. Other companies in the construction services industry with upcoming earnings release dates include: Lennar, NVR and D.R. Horton.
