LA HABRA – Detectives are on the lookout for a ponytailed bandit with sunglasses who robbed a local bank of about $3,400 last week.

No one was injured during the robbery at Pacific Mercantile Bank at 1530 W. Whittier Blvd., according to FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller.

The robbery occurred shortly before 11:30 a.m. on March 11.

La Habra police spokeswoman Cindy Knapp said the man approached a teller and demanded money. No weapon was seen.

He warned the teller not to give him a dye pack and used profanity, Eimiller said. She also said the man simulated having a weapon in the bag.

The robber then drove off with his loot. The FBI didn’t release the description of the getaway vehicle.

Eimiller said as of this time, the suspect hasn’t been linked to other robberies.

The suspect was described as a Latino or white man in his mid 20s with a thin build. He weighs between 130 to 150 pounds and stands between 5-feet, 9-inches to 5-feet, 11-inches tall.

He was unshaven and wore his brown hair in a ponytail. He carried a blue bag like one used to make bank deposits. He also wore gloves, sunglasses, a black baseball cap, a dark-colored hooded sweat shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the La Habra Police Department at (562) 905-9750 or the FBI at (310) 477-6565.
