FOLEY, Alabama -- A recently opened Dollar General store on Ala. 59 was the target of an armed robbery over the weekend.
According to Foley police, about 9:40 p.m. Saturday, a gun-wielding man wearing a black ski mask entered the store at 1704 S. McKenzie St., which is across from the Coleman store.
The suspect, who is described as a white male about 6 feet tall, demanded that a store employee open the safe, a police news release stated. Once the safe was opened, the man took an undisclosed amount of money and left the store.
No one was injured in the incident.
The man was wearing a gray, hooded sweatshirt, light-colored pants and gloves. Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call the Foley Police Department at 251-943-4431.
Other Dollar General stores
. All were robbed just before closing time. One store on Riviera Boulevard, behind Sonic, which had been hit a few times over the years, closed when the new, more visible location opened on Ala. 59.
