Standard Life Investments (SLI) has handed its European Equity Growth fund to Jonathan Fearon as former manager Kay Eyre has been made deputy manager.

Ms Eyre had taken on the management of the fund in April 2014, but the mandate has now been handed over to Mr Fearon, who joined Standard Life as part of its acquisition of Ignis Asset Management.

As well as European Equity Growth, he will also manage the European equity portion of SLI’s Global Advantage fund, as well as taking on responsibility for analysing banking stocks.

Ms Eyre has been with SLI since 1996 and also manages the Standard Life Investments European Trust II and recently took on the Ignis European Growth fund from former manager Ian Ormiston.

SLI has also hired Tom Dorner as an investment director with responsibility for analysing several European equity sectors, including insurance companies.

Mr Dorner has joined from Citigroup, having previously worked at Oriel Securities, Lehman Brothers and Barclays Capital.
