News broke over the weekend that famed BBC Radio One presenter and DJ Zane Lowe was leaving the radio station for an unknown position at Apple. That left some big shoes to fill in the BBC Radio One schedule with Lowe vacating the weekday evening slot from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. BBC has chosen their new man, or woman in this case, and it was a logical one: Annie Mac.
Annie Mac is the current host of her own show titled Annie Mac Friday nights from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., as well as Radio 1's Musical Hot Water Bottle Sunday nights from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. She will be stepping down from her slot hosting the Musical Hot Water Bottle show, but will continue to host her own Friday night show, in addition to taking on the weekday workload of Zane Lowe.
Zane Lowe's last show will be Thursday, March 5, and Annie Mac will officially start the following Monday, March 9.
Phil Taggart will take over for Annie Mac Sunday nights and will continue to host his Thursday evening future music show.

Having 11 hours of airtime a week to share those moments with music that has no boundaries is beyond a job, it's a privilege," said Mac on the new opportunity. "And to be following in the footsteps of Zane Lowe, a broadcaster that I respect and admire enormously, is a huge honor. I can't wait to get started."
Beyond BBC Radio One, Annie Mac has her own Annie Mac Presents brand, where she has developed compilations and gone on tour with other DJs under that namesake. She also hosts a radio show on Sirius XM in the United States with the Annie Mac Presents name. We will see if she is able to balance the added workload and continue to tour and host the U.S. radio show.
